"Nathan Aldridge died May 6, 1865 - 2nd wife Russell County, AL - married 2nd July 30, 1856 - Mrs. Eleanor Jane Crowder, widow of Robert Crowder of Milton, Caswell County, NC. She was born June 3, 1808 and died Sept. 9, 1883 in Salem, AL.

Paper found in Lewis Family Bible, had a braid of hair sewn on in blue thread. It read, “Grandmother Aldridge hair. Died Sept 10, 1883”

It is known Eleanor's daughter Janthy, married, 2nd,  John F. Lewis, the family to whom the  Bible belonged.

In the 1860 Russell Co, AL, Census, Nathan is found on Page 1054- Beat 11 - Salem Town. #535 - Farmer - with a value of Real Estate of $1,800 and Value of Personal Estate of $55,000.00 He is shown as being born in GA 1791 and age 69 at time of the census.

Living with him is E. J. (Eleanor) age 50, born 1810, VA and a 3 year old female, born 1857, GA listed only as M. W. Aldridge.  It is possible this is their child. Eleanor would have been 47 years of age when she was born.  In the 1870 census, Eleanor is living with her daughter Janthy and 2nd husband John F. Lewis.  The child would have been 13 at this time, but she is not shown in the household. It is unknown who she was or what happened to her.
