Alums/Allums Genealogy
Descendants of Asa Allums

Generation No. 1

1. ASA ALLUMS.

Notes for ASA ALLUMS:

Old correspondence in the library at the University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, says, the ALLUMS descended from a HALLUMS family of Rowan Co. NC. Since Rowan Co was formed from Anson Co, it is possible this could be correct.
Records state, John HALLUMS, d 1765 Rowan Co, had a son John ALLUMS who m, 1765 Eliz. MORRIS, daughter of George MORRIS. They moved to Washington Co, GA, before 1805. In the 1805 GA land lottery were Edmond, Asa, John Sr and John Jr of Washington Co.
Another researcher says, Daniel BEASLEY, who left a will in 1829 in Richmond Co, NC was the father of 15 children including John G. & William M, While he did name John and William as among his older sons, that's not proof they were the ones in Barbour Co. Since Richmond was formed in 1779 from Anson Co and Daniel was on the 1790 & 1810 Richmond Co census, that would mean John G. and William M were born in Richmond, but this could have possibilities, since Richmond came out of Anson.

Child of ASA ALLUMS is:
2. i. MARTHA2 ALUMS, b. 04 January 1802, Washington Co GA; d. 11 August 1880, Barbour Co AL.

Generation No. 2
2. MARTHA2 ALUMS (ASA1 ALLUMS) was born 04 January 1802 in Washington Co GA, and died 11 August 1880 in Barbour Co AL. She married JOHN G. BEASLEY 09 March 1820 in Baldwin Co GA.

Notes for JOHN G. BEASLEY:
The 1880 Census of Barbour Co Alabama shows John and his wife Martha, living next door to their grandchildren. Their daughter, Bettie and her husband Daniel Beverly were not shown and most likely had died. John G. Beasley was shown as 89 years old and deaf. His wife Martha was 79 years old and had Dropsy.
Elizabeth was shown as the oldest grandchild living. She was 29, born in 1851 and her sisters were, Katey, 21born 1859 and Callie 19 born 1861. John was listed as 27 born 1853 and a farmer. Many time the census taker would make mistakes or the transcriber would copy the information wrong. The 1870 Census shows John as 19, born 1851 and the same birth date is shown in the 1900 census.
1870 shows Elizabeth , born 1854, Ella, born 1855, Catherine(Katey) born 1857, and Callie, born 1860.

In 1831, John G. BEASLEY patented land between Claton and Louisville, near Pratts. In 1835, James and William BEASLEY patented land nearby.
