Notes for EDWARD HADSELL:
13 Oct 2001, My husband, Joe and I visited Moundsville, Marshall Co. WV. We were able to find Buchanan Hill Cemetery, and locate the grave of Edward Hadsell Jr.
It is located on top of a hill with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. We had just arrived and were looking for the graves of Edward, his wife, Mary Ann McLaughlin and three of their grandchildren, the children of Eli W. Salter and Martha Hadsell. We noticed bad storm clouds coming in and the wind started to pick up. We were afraid to stay longer, as the roads were unknown to us and we did not want to be driving on them during a storm. I was able to find Edward's headstone, and see that the Salter children, Willie, Eddie and Ada were buried near him. I could not find Mary Ann McLaughlin's stone. There was a stone right next to Edwards, but it was partly caved in and no name could be found on it. I Know from records that Edward and Mary Ann had a daughter, Mary, buried near them and another grandchild, their daughter Elizabeth Rigg's daughter, is buried there also. I found space for these graves between the blank stone and the Salter children. It was discouraging to drive over 1000 miles, and not be able to spend more time, but I am glad I was able to go and get the few pictures I have.
After we returned home, I received an email from a lady who lived in the area. She offered to take more pictures of the graves and cemetery. When they arrived, I was excited to see, the grave stone of Mary Hadsell, daughter of Mary McLaughlin and Edward Hadsell, was located right at the bottom of and almost touching the stone of Willie and Eddie Salter, children of Eli W. Salter and Martha Hadsell. (The Salter babies died close to the same time and share a stone)

Buchanan Hill Cemetery is located on Rt. 250 about 10 miles from Moundsville going toward Pa. State line.
