Thomas Adderley, 1700s England (possibly Stone, Staffordshir area)

Thomas Adderley, 1700s England (possibly Stone, Staffordshir area)

Not much is known yet about this line. Thomas was reportedly married to a Mary and they had at least three children -- Thomas, Jane Woolf, and Edward. The next generation, through Edward, were Thomas, William and James. Thomas reportedly died in Liverpool, and in the IGI there is a christening for a James Adderley, born 22 AUG 1831 Saint Michael, Stone, Stafford, England, to an Edward Adderley and Rebecca. This could be the same James who appears in the 1881 census, living at 34 Darley St. in Leeds, born 1832 in Stone, Stafford, England, age 49, grocer. With him are wife Mary, age 46, born in Stone, and children: Ada R, Leeds, 21; Edward J, Leeds,18; Sampson W, Cheadle,15; Thomas C, Cheadle, 12; Adam F, Cheadle, 10; Harry W, Cheadle, 10; Mary E, Leeds, 20.

IGI also lists other possible children of Edward Adderley and Rebecca, all christened at Saint Michael, Stone, Stafford, England, which would seem to coincide with the above information. There is also a marriage on IGI of an Edward Adderley to a Rebecca Bowyer, 1818 Cheshire. Interestingly, Bowyer is the maiden name of a family that marries into ADDERLEY Line 1. The children of Edward and Rebecca are: Edward, 21 APR 1822; Edwin, 03 OCT 1824; Jane, 09 APR 1826; Sampson, 16 JUL 1827; the abovementioned James; and Henry, 13 SEP 1835 and died 27 JAN 1837.
