Adderley Family, 1700s Shropshire

Adderley Family, 1700s Shropshire

This line, centred around Salop, Shropshire, begins with an Unknown Adderley who is reported to have had eight children, with the oldest a boy possibly named Johnanes, the next six girls of unknown names, and the last Thomas Adderley. This information was provided by Mrs. Beatrice Mary Garvin, nee Adderley, a direct descendent of Thomas Adderley.

Thomas Adderley was reported to have been born in 1748 in "Weston, Aston, near Madeley, Salop, England." This is a bit confusing, as Salop, now Shrewsbury, is in Shropshire, and a search of a town called Weston reveals one in Lincolnshire, which is by no means "near" Salop. This obviously needs to be further clarified

Thomas married Ann Iberson and had four sons, all born in Madeley. He then married Mary Jones and had a daughter and son. Thomas'eldest, William, reportedly married a woman from the Tittley family and emigrated to the U.S. The research notes say: "he actual point in time of immigration into the USA is likely between 1833 and 1837 -- see children's times/places of birth. William was reportedly a well known mineralogist. He became the "Captain of the Iron Mines" in Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, New York, USA, for at least thirty years."
