Ellen Ahern (Kelly) (1883-1931) |

Ellen, who was known as Nell, was born about 1883 in Knockanaire, County Limerick, one of ten children born to Daniel Kelly and Ellen O'Sullivan.
Around
1900, Nell traveled to Boston or Maine? with one or two of her sisters. She stayed there for about six years and worked in a denim factory, before going back to Tour.
She met Bill on the day she arrived back, (he asked her what she had come back to Tour for, as there was nothing there). On February 8th 1910 they were married in Tournafulla church. (Her grand uncle, one of her grandmother's brother's, I'm not sure which side, who's name was O'Shaughnessy, worked on the construction of the Union Pacific Railway in the U.S. (some fairly important position and is supposed to be quoted in a book about the U.P).
Ellen Kelly (far left). As for the rest of the people I'm not sure, but I would guess that the couple sitting to the right was one of Ellen's sisters and her husband, I'm not sure about the child. I don't know a lot about this picture but it has a U.S. look to it and it appears that Ellen is wearing a wedding ring (so its 1910 or later). She also looks as if she may be pregnant but its hard to say (If anyone can help me out with more detail let me know)
