BRANCHES OF MY TREE

 Descendants of Randolphus de Barton

My Connection?  Randolphus de Barton was my 26 times great grandfather and as far back in the line as it is possible to trace.  His 9 times great grandson Admiral Sir Andrew Barton was a famous pirate/privateer during the 1500's. My connection comes through my great grandmother, Julia Janet Thomson who married Sir Samuel Walker Griffith on July 5, 1870 in Maitland.

Descendants of Batholomew Doyle

My connection?  Bartholomew Doyle was my 5 times great grandfather.  The Doyles in Australia have a most romantic history, arriving as convicts yet becoming landowners of large estates throughout New South Wales within a relatively short period of time.  The genealogical tables are also interesting, as many of the family inter-married, first cousins marrying first cousins, thereby consolidating the family gains.  The early Doyle women made excellent marriages, in many cases marrying into the top pioneer families in Australia.  The genealogical records of those families appear on this page.

Descendants of Walter Halliday (including Griffith line)

My connection?  Walter Halliday was born in approximately 1215, but my connection did not occur until August 3rd, 1752, when Jane, his 15 times great granddaughter married Henry Griffith, my 5 times great grandfather.

Descendants of Joseph Moore

My connection?  Joseph Moore was my three times great grandfather from Manchester, Lancashire, but it was his son Edward Moore who was the first in this line to arrive in Australia. Edward was a convict who arrived at the end of 1818 on the "General Stewart".  Australia was kind to the Moores and they went on to become owners of larges estates in the Camden area of NSW.

LEAVES ON MY TREE

Descendants of Henry Colden Antill

The obscure connection? James Alexander Antill,  son of Henry Colden Antill (Australian Pioneer), married Susannah Caroline Wild in 1869.  Susannah was the daughter of John Benton Wild and Emmeline Gaudry.  The Gaudry family are inter-married to the Keable family listed below. The Antill family, originally from the UK and USA in turn married into two very interesting American families, the Colden and Morris families.

Descendants of Henry Keable

The obscure connection? John Frederick Doyle, my 3 times great grandfather married Ellen Ann Fitz.  Ellen Ann was the sister of William John Fitz, who married Eunice Kable on July 15th, 1823.  I have included this family because the story of their arrival in Australia with the First Fleet is just incredible.
