Amon was born May 15, 1824 Sullivan Co., Tennessee and died September 4, 1906 Metcalfe Co., Kentucky. He married Rhoda Arterburn, daughter of Elias Arterburn and Sallie Proffitt, on Decmeber 8, 1846 Washington Co., Tennessee.

  8. Amon Jobe probably followed James Robertson's overland trip of 1779 to establish the Cumberland settlement. Robertson used the Wilderness Road through Kentucky rather than a more dangerous and direct route through the Cherokees' land.
