    This deed tells the history of one of the original Nottinham Lots for over 80 years. Herein, Daniel Job Sr. buys one quarter of Lot 26, bordering land he already owns. It tells the whole history, from the grant to this deed...bordering land Daniel already owns...and it's called JOB'S PURCHASE

    This Indenture made the Thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty seven Between John Butterfield Junior of West Nottingham in Cecil County in the State of Maryland of the one part, and Daniel Job Senior of West Nottingham aforesaid Blacksmith of the other part, Witnesseth that Whereas the Honorable William Penn Esquire and proprietor of the province of Pennsylvania did in the year 1701.2 Grant unto a certain James Cooper a certain Lott of Land on the South side of the Street line in West Nottingham aforesaid formerly of Chester County in Pennsylvania (But now confirmed to be in Maryland) and known by the name of Lott number Twenty Six containing 500 acres, and whereas the said James Cooper did by his Deed of Gift bearing date the 30th day of May 1728 for the consideration therein mentioned Convey and Confirm unto his son William Cooper the north End and half of the aforesaid Lott by an East and West line, and the said William Cooper did by his conveyance bearing date the 24th day of June 1728 Bargain Sell and Confirm the said north End and half of the aforesaid Lott for the Consideration therein mentioned unto James Johnson (recourse being had to the Two aforesaid Instruments of writing may more fully and at large appear) And the said James Johnson did by his last Will and Testament bearing date the 2nd day of the 12th mo 1728 Authorize his Executor William Knight, Immediately after the said James Johnson's Widow's decease to sell the aforesaid north end and part of the aforesaid Lott, and the said William Knight did at publick sale on the 8th day of October 1771 Sell unto John Butterfield Senr the aforesaid Tract of Land and the said William Knight by his last Will and Testament bearing date 24th day of February 1783 Did constitute and appoint John Knight and Levi Bailey to be his Executors, and the said John Knight and Levi Bailey did by their Deed of Conveyance bearing date the 4th day of April 1783 Convey and Confirm unto the said John Butterfield senior his Heirs and Assigns the aforesaid Tract of Land Containing 258 acres 3 qr For the Consideration therein mentioned, and the said John Butterfield senior and Hannah his wife did by their Deed of Conveyance bearing Date the 1st day of July 1783 duly executed and entered on Record in the Office for recording of Deeds in aforesaid County in Liber BW No 1 Pages 240, 241 & 242 Convey and Confirm unto their Son John Butterfield Junior One Hundred and Twenty one acres of Land off the north end of the above mentioned 258 acres 3 qr Subject to a small restriction mentioned in an Instrument of writing bearing Date date with their Conveyance as may be seen by having recourse thereunto. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said John Butterfield Junior for and in Consideration of the Sum of Three Hundred and Sixty three pounds fifteen Shillings Specie, to him in Hand paid by the said Daniel Job senior the receipt whereof the said John Butterfield doth hereby acknowledge himself therewith to be fully satisfied have Granted Bargained, sold Conveyed and Confirmed, and by these presents do fully freely and absolutely Grant Bargain Sell Convey and Confirm unto the said Daniel Job his Heirs and assigns a certain Tract of Land called Jobs Purchase Beginning at a Stone a Corner of the same and of James Allens Land Thence South three and Quarter Degrees East One Hundred and Twenty perches to a post Thence north Eighty three and a half Degrees West One Hundred and Sixty three perches by John Butterfield seniors Land to a Black Oak Thence North four Degrees West One Hundred and Twenty perches by lands of Elisha Brown to a Stone Thence South Eighty three and a half Degrees West One hundred and sixty one perches by lands of said Daniel Job John Knight & Samuel Brown to the place of beginning Containing One Hundred and Twenty one acres and one quarter of an acre, Be the same more of less. Together also with all and singular the Buildings Improvements, priviledges and appurtenances thereunto Belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the Estate right Title Interest Claim and Demand of him the Said John Butterfield of in or to the hereby Granted Land and premises To have and to hold the said one hundred and Twenty one acres and a quarter of an acre of Land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Daniel Job his Heirs and assigns To the only proper use Benefit and Behoof of the said Daniel Job His Heirs and assigns for ever and he the said John Butterfield the said above described Tract of Land and premises above mentioned against himself and against his Heirs and Executors and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming The State Demands with the aforementioned restrictions only excepted unto the said Daniel Job his Heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and for ever Defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Parties to these presents have hereunto Interchangeably set their Hands and Seal the day and year first above written
