- Oma Louis Jobe - b 2-22-1902 near Soper, Oklahoma (Indian Territory then), son of Jesse Logan Jobe and Georgina E. Holman Jobe. He had nine brothers and sisters, Oma being the 3rd child. He was born with congenital cataracts and was almost totally blind until age 20 when he had them removed. He had to wear the 'coke bottle' glasses to see, since lens implants were not available way back then. We have a pair of his glasses, impossible to see thru! Oma was 16 years old when his father, Jesse, was robbed and murdered near Tahlequah, OK. His mother continued farming near Haskell OK with the help of her sons. Three years later she moved the family to Sperry OK to be near relatives, and remarried. Oma married Florence Lavon Dale in Sperry OK in 1923 and they raised two sons, Preston and Herbert. Oma worked as an oil company roustabout and farmer. He died 9-20-1968 in Tulsa OK and is buried in Sperry OK, alongside his wife, who died 4-25-1980. Oma was a well-loved and respected citizen and family man, a friend to all. Submitted by Patti Jobe
