Rachel was born December 12, 1809 West Nottingham, Cecil Co., Maryland and died January 18, 1893 Cecil Co., Maryland. Later in Life, she married Thomas Brown. She had no descendants.

  2. Will of Rachel J. Brown

    I Rachel J. Brown of Cecil County, State of Maryland being in poor health, but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understnding make this my last Will--That is to say: after all my just Debts and funeral Expenses are paid, I give devise and bequeath my property as follows:

    To my nephew, Haines Job, I devise all my undivided two-thirds interest in a tract of Land, in the sixth District adjoining lands of Hampton Langdon, James D. Healy and others-also the Dwelling House and lot in the 9th District, wheron I reside all (? all is fee simple-) I also bequeath to him all the rest and residue of my personal property - after the bequests hereinafter mentioned are first paid.-

    I give and bequeath to John Marr, the sum of Three Hundred dollars,-

    I give and bequeath to Lizzie C. Taylor, who now lives with and waits on me - all my household goods -

    Lastly, I appoint my said Nephew Haines Job as my Executor of this, my last will.-

    Witness my hand and save this 4th. Day of August in this Eighteen hundred and Ninety.

  3. Witnesses Testimony

    CECIL COUNTY, ss: January 31st. 1893

    Then came Haines Job, Executor named in the foregoing instrument of writing, and made oath in due form of law, that the same is the true and whole last Will and Testament of Rachel J. Brown late of Cecil County, deceased, that hath come to his knowledge and possession; that due publication of the contents thereof hath been made, and that he knows of none other or any reason why the probate thereof should not be taken.

    Then came Reuben Kirk and Job Haines, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, and severally made affitmation in due form of law, that they did see Rachel J. Brown the Testatrix therein named, sign and seal the same; that they heard her publish, pronounce and declare the same to be her so doing she was to the best of their apprehension and belief of a sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding; that they severally subscribed their names as witnesses thereto, in the presence, at the request, of said Testatrix and in the presence of each other.
