Reuben H. Jobe was born December 23, 1816 in Overton, Missouri and died August 12, 1893 Moniteau Co., MO. He married Nancy Landrum, d/o William Landrum and Polly Mulkey, on May 8, 1839 Moniteau Co., Missouri.
*Note from Alan Sparks
Attached are the scans of the 1848 Moniteau County, Missouri tax list of the Job's. I had them copied at the courthouse in California yesterday. Interestingly, it is spelled Job on the list. The file labeled 1848moniteautax-pg2 has the column headings at the top to explain what each one means. The copy of the other page (which actually was the first page copied from the book & the Job's were at the bottom of the page) did not get the column headings.
Reuben Job with 140 acres, 1 slave, 3 horses, 3 cattle, 1 clock
---plus what appears to be
Dedrick Yows (dec'd) 160 acres and 1 slave. Original owner is R Job on Reuben's part and D Yows on Dedrick Yows entry.
Explanation from Alan Sparks
As far as Dedrick Yows, I have long wondered if this couldn't have been some relation (father?) to Margaret Yewes. He shows up in the Mt Gilead (now First) Baptist Church in the 1830s and 1840s with other Job's. Yows is the only way I have seen the named spelled when it comes to Dedrick, so I have often wondered if Yewes was misspelled or is another spelling that was used in 1822 in Cooper County?
