William, s/o Mannen Clements Simpson and Samantha Jane Braselton, was born January 14, 1869 Tuscaloosa Co., Alabama and died May 8, 1930 Arkansas. He m/1 Cora N. Harwell on March 4, 1907. After her death in 1908, he married Hattie Paralee Batchelor, d/o George Richard Batchelor and Catherine Ryan, on June 12, 1912.

  6. William Zachariah Simpson Bible Summary. It is a copy of the bible record done, probably around 1907, by William Z. Simpson's brother-in-law Delmon Arendale, who married Lela Augusta Simpson.

    I think this record was produced around 1907, because Delmon Arendale was county clerk of Grant Co., AR, and the upper right-hand corner of the transcript says "true copy by D.A." In 1907, Samantha Jane Braselton Simpson, widow of Mannen Clements Simpson, went back to AL to obtain affidavits to prove Mannen's CSA service in the Civil War.

    It looks to me as if the document I'm sending was written at that time to give her proof, from her own family bible as well as her son's, of the birth, death, and marriage dates of Mannen C. Simpson and his family.

    What's interesting about this transcript that Delmon Arendale did is that it combines the bible registers from both the Mannen Clements Simpson bible and the William Zachariah Simpson bible. So it shows the line back from William Z. Simpson through Mannen C. Simpson to Zachariah S. and Elizabeth Pryor Simpson, whose death dates appear in the transcript. Submitted by William Lindsey.
