"Jobe Township named for William Samuel Jobe who, before 1840, joined his brother, Eli Jobe, who had come before 1830 with his wife, Prudence, and five year old son, Jacob."
MY NOTE:
I do think the age quoted for Jacob is off a bit. Jacob was born November 1827--this we know from Tombstone records and Bible records and from descendants.

Oregon Co., was divided into 4 townships with one being named Jobe Township after William S. Jobe. (I know that this Samuel Jobe did own and operate a store at Jobe, Missouri and it is believed that he is the one that the township was named after.)

The will of Samuel Jobe written l4 March l859 names 3 children. William Hall was appointed administrator of Samuel's estate on March 24. Witnesses were Eli Jobe and Elijah Jobe. (I have copy- but very dark in spots)

He is not mentioned int he will of his father. However, there is a male listed in Samuel's family as being born 1825-1830.
She is not listed in the will of her father. However, the 1840 Ripley Co., Mo census does show a female in the household of Samuel Job as being born 1825-1830.
Went to Knight's Landing, California where his wife, Eda Anne Fine, died about l856. He left his children with his sister, Cynthia, and he returned to Oregon Co, Missouri and died soon after his father, Samuel Jobe Sr.
