As told to me by Mrs. John Thompson, our father’s own cousin
By Charlie Floyd Jones
Know all men by these presents the beginning of the record was about the year 1825. Our great-great grandfather [Unknown Jones] came from some place in Tennessee to Randolph County, Arkansas and settled west of Pocahontas, Arkansas at a place on Eleven Point River at a place known as Water Valley. There he raised a family of four sons and five daughters. The sons by name were as follows:
- --Uncle William Jones [who] went to Texas and raised his family there.
- --Uncle Green R. Jones lived in Randolph County all his life and raised his family there. One [of Green’s] boys, Lute Jones served one term as Sheriff and Collector of Randolph County. He [Lute] has two sons living in Tucson, Arizona, namely Green R. Jones and Charles Jones.
- --Uncle James Jones never married and died in his home near where he was born.
- --Our grandfather [John L. Jones] went up Eleven Point River and met our grandmother [Sarah Jobe] and they were married at Jobe, Missouri, November 17, 1854. He [John L.] was born November 22, 1831. She, Sarah Jobe, was born November 6, 1835. Our grandfather [John L. Jones] died during the War Between the States.
Yours truly,
C. F. Jones[Charlie Floyd Jones, b. April 8, 1891, brother to James Manuel Jones, b. Nov 25th, 1892 who was the father of Charles Lloyd Jones, b. July 30, 1916 and grandfather of Linda Jones Lynch b. Dec. 30, 1943).
