Dear Sister & all.
Received your letter yesterday. was surprised.
I and Ellen are neither one hardly able to work. I knew you but I didn't know Fannie. She looks white headed. Bro Joe & Nellie & her (???) and Jim Cox and his wife staid here all night about a month ago while going to Illinois on a visit. I got a letter from Joe the next day after I got yours. he said he got a picture. We live on a farm about 2 miles from Lafayette. Lafayette has about 25,000 people. I think we will move to town soon. We are not able to work any more. You didn't mention Jess's name in your letter. Write to me about all the rest of the children and tell me how they are, and Uncle Dick Scarberry. I send you two pictures, some that has been made about twelve years. One for you one for fannie. We only had one son-in-law at that time. Now we have four and twelve grandchildren. I write the names of our children on the back of the picture. The little boy is our baby and the little girl is our oldest grandaughter. Richard Is 16 years old now and is writing this letter. Answer soon. Our youngest girl died last Sept. Age 25 and never married

We have not had any rain only one little shower this evening that we got. the news that Jessie was dead we was at a funeral when we got the news and we come right home and aimed to come out there and the cloud come up and looked so bad we was afraid to start and the car was not running good and we was afraid to start with it I feel so sorrow for you. I Know you are so lonesome without him but I do hope and pray that he is at rest. I want you to write and tell me all about his death and what was the matter with him. How long was he sick and what are you going to do. Are you still going to try to stay at home or turn the place over to someone else If you do, come out and stay awhile with me. Where is Rassie and her folks and how are they getting along. Well, I don't have any garden it is so dry.
