Bible Record of Joseph W. Jobe and Catharine Buress

BIBLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION - Margaret Jobe

"The Family Bible has been in my husbands possession for nearly 50 years. Before then his father Joe Jobe had it and then back to Charles Oliver Jobe. The note pages with the Williams info. and some of the Jobes are very old and very brittle. In comparing them to notes and letters that were in the Bible, written in the early 1900's and their condition, I'd guess that the William's pages are much, much older."

James Williams and Susannah ?

Proof of Their Children

Will of Susannah Williams

Special thanks to Janet (Baugh) Hunter for this will abstract.

Moniteau Co., MO Will Book 1, page 41, proven April 18, 1850

In the name of God Amen, I Susannah Williams being weak of body yet well in mind and intellect do make this my last Will and Testament (viz)

Item:

Deeds in Moniteau Co., MO - for estate of James Williams

Special thanks to Janet (Baugh) Hunter for abstracts of these deeds. Janice writes:

Based on nine consecutive deeds in Moniteau Co Deed Book D beginning about page 96, I found the following ALL being paid $25 by CP Williams (Commodore Perry) and renouncing their rights to three tracts of land in Section 17, of Township 45, Range 15 -- to which they were entitled as the heirs and legatees of James Williams deceased.. .The wives/husbands all renounced their rights, dower or otherwise. The location of the land is the same location where the Williams Cemetery is -- where CP and brother James are buried.". One of these read:

Moniteau Co., MO Deed Book D

"State of Missouri, County of Cole
I John Williams do swear to the best of my knowledge and belief that Susanna Williams, John Williams, Mary Henry, Wife of Joseph Henry, Nancy Bird wife of Samuel Bird, Commodore P. Williams, Ira Williams, Susan Louisa Williams, James Williams, William Williams, Tabith Williams All of whom reside in the County of Cole in the State of Missouri, Elizabeth Ross wife of Charles Ross of Cooper County Missouri, Thomas Williams of Cock County in the State of Tennessee, are the sole heirs of James Williams deceased, that the said deceased died intestate. That I will make a perfect inventory of and faithfully administer all the debts as far as the [portion I can't read] and account for and pay all assets which shall come to my possession of knowledge so help me God. John Williams."

Sworn to and subscribed to before the {???] Clerk of the Cole County Court this 9th day of November AD. 1842."

From the above and other research of Janet and various Jobe descendants, we can gather that James and Susannah had the following children:

Connections to the Jobe Family

ANOTHER WILLIAMS - JOBE MYSTERY?

Special thanks to Alan Sparks for finding and transcribing the following obituary for us:

Thursday, October 30, 1884 California Democrat
Died - Tuesday, near this city, Polly Jobe, widow of the late Reuben Jobe, Sr. aged 83 years. Mrs. Jobe's maiden name was Williams, whose family located in this vicinity at an early day. She has a brother, Richard Williams, in this state, at the advanced age of 108 years. Thos. Stephens, of this county, who is 83 years of age, is a son-in-law of Richard Williams.

*At this time, I'm not sure how this Polly connects to either of the James - Susannah Williams family above. This obituary would indicate that she was born about 1800 Tennessee which would make her a likely candicate for brother or first cousin of either James Williams, above. We do know that Rebuen Jobe, the husband, was a s/o Enoch Job Jr. and Lucretia ?.

ANSWERS OR MORE QUESTIONS?

Though we have discovered many connections between these 'three' Williams families, as of yet, we have NO PROOF of how the three families are related to each other. The above was done based upon the Jobe research which has been discovered by a team of researchers and descendants. From all that we know so far, I would say that there is a definite connection and probably more Job(e) intermarriages between these Williams families which we have not as yet discovered or 'pieced' together. Much research is continuing to go on.

Because of the high number of reearchers that we do have for the Enoch Job and Lucretia ? family of Cole/Moniteau Counties, Missouri, this page was constructed to help show some of these intermarriages and to make it clear that there were TWO James - Susannah Williams families in the area.
