Enrolled 1st Reg., Iowa Cav., 4 Sept 1862 in Davenport, IA to serve 3 yrsEphriam enrolled in the Union Cavalry for three years on 9/4/1862 in Davenport, Iowa. He was paid a bounty of $25 and was owed another $4. He furnished his own horse. Fought for Captain Littler in "F" Company, First Regiment of Iowa cavalry. Enrolled as a Private, was promoted to Corporal in September of 1863.
In December of 1862 he was assigned to Camp Curtis (Iowa?) In January of 1863 he was transferred to "I" company
January 22, 1863 Ephriam was sent to Camp ______ in Forsyth, MO. Contracted dysentary "bloody Flux" and died in the Union Army hospital in Little Rock, AK December 1863.
In Army records he is described as 5'9", light complextion, blue eyes, light hair.
