It would seem that at that time William Southwood, Greenbury's father, lived near Lewis Shelton, Mary Ann's father, so this is how they came to know each other it seems. Greenbury and Mary Ann were married by John Price, Minister of the Gospel.
Greenbury Southward, like so many others, followed the Gold Rush to California, but he did not find his fortune in mining.
