A married daughter of Mr. Southward who had been living with her parents near here, started in a wagon with others to attend a wedding on last Sunday morning, a shower of rain beginning to fall caused them to seek shelter when she in the act of springing from the wagon fell upon her side causing her death before a physician could arrive.
Per Wayne Irwin:"Henry Southward was listed on the tax roles of Wise Co., through the year 1887. In 1888 his estate is listed in the name of N. J. or W. J. Southward who was, I guess, his widow. So He must have died during the year of 1887 or in 1888 before tax assessments were made. After 1888, the Southward name is no longer listed in Wise Co.,"
