Per Wayne Irwin:
"I have found a variety of spellings on Iradell and Southward. One was Southard. My grandmother, Alice Caroline, (granddaughter of Iradell) used to say it had to be spelled 'ward or it was wrong. So I have continued with that spelling. However, the 1840 MO census did use that spelling."Per Nardia McNally:
"Iradel was murdered and robbed while he was herding horses about 1880. It is suspected that a neighbor killed him while attempting a robbery for the money. The state has the records sealed so we know of no conviction. He is buried in the Southward/Megee cemetery.(this takes place in Texas)"
