"being Mr. John Gorby's 81st birthday anniversary, his two daughters, Mrs. David Mitchell and Mrs. Tom Boone, and his son's wife, Mrs. Jess Gorby, entertained for him at the home of Mrs. Dave Mitchell. AS Mr. Gorby is a Civil War veteran the gues list included all the Civil War veterans and their wives and widows of veterans, but several of these old people were unable to attend on account of illness. The grandchildren assisted by a few friends, gave a delightful program of reading and songs. The guests sang "Tenting on the Old Camo Ground." The gathering was indeed a happy one, old settlers and comrades meeting and visiting as in days of yore. The guests were refreshed by delicious ice cream and cake. Messrs. W. H. Jobe"
