"When John and Philip Mulkey moved from the Big Pigeon Church in 1797, to present-day Monroe County, Kentucky, the Job family moved also. David and Enoch Jobe joined mill Creek Church in Monroe County, Kentucky. Mourning Denton joined Mill Creek 'by living testimony"
MY NOTE: There was no business transacted at Old Mill 'Mulkey' until December 1798. The above reference does say that Dorcas Job was listed as a member of Old Mill Meeting House on December 30, 1797. However, this cannot be true since there was no business transacted at Old Mill 'Mulkey' until December 1798. This misinformation probably comes from Big Pidgeon Church Records where they met at Samuel Job and his wife, Dorcas Mackay's home PRIOR to the the exodus to Monroe County, and the Spring Creek Baptist Church in Jackson County. However, the Job(e) family is recognized as a an original member of Mill Creek 'ask Old Mulkey' church where Dorcas was officially received in 1805 (see below), in what was then Barren County, Kentucky. The Job(e) family has also been recognized as a pioneer family of Monroe Co., Kentucky.
Founding Member vs. Original Member
As explained by Longtime Job(e) researcher and Monroe Co., KY Researcher, Randy JobeThere are several lists of members in the original record...Building tithes, Association tithes, etc. But the big list of members in the record, since transcribed and displayed at the Church for years, includes both original and founding members. The circumstances of their membership being written in the record from Sep. 11, 1798 to Nov. 11, 1809 (2nd Saturday) The Jobes were original members of Old Mulkey, not founding.

Samuel Job, the son of Caleb and Barbary Job and grandson of Andrew Job Jr. and Elizabeth Vernon, was born about 1735 East Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania . About 1758 probably in Augusta County, Virginia, he married Dorcas MacKay, daughter of Zachariah MacKay.Against his Quaker upbringing, Samuel and his young sons joined the Continental army where they served under John Sevier and Evan Shelby. In lieu of wages, each family head received 640 acres for himself, 100 for his wife and 100 for each child. Samuel received Land Grant #189, consisting of 512 acres on Kendrick’s Creek, Washington County, North Carolina; issued Oct 24, 1782. At this time, Washington County, North Carolina included the entire territory of Tennessee.
It was here that Samuel and Dorcas met Rev. Jonathan Mulkey and William Reno. In Oct 1786, Samuel sold his land to his brothers, Nathan and Jacob Job, and to Peter Jackson. By the winter of 1787, 'Darcus Job' appeared in the minutes of Big Pigeon Baptist Church. When John and Philip Mulkey moved from the Big Pigeon Church in 1787, to present Monroe County, Kentucky, the Job family moved also.
On Saturday, July 13, 1805, Dorcas Job joined the Old Mill Creek Meeting House, located in Barren (now Monroe) County, “Church met & a door was opend for the Reception of members Rec’d by letter Dorcas Job Henry Harding Clary Harding his wife by experience Peggy Condra”. She left the church, “dismissed by letter”, in November that same year.
From 1805 until 1808, the family appears in Jackson County, Tennessee and various court records in White County, Tennessee.
A grandson, John Jobe, stated that by 1808 his grandfather, Samuel Job and four sons (Isaac, Jacob, Caleb, Abraham) had migrated to Missouri Territory. Submitted by Ann (Jobe) Brown
