Hiriam was born just under 5 months after Jesse R. Vincent had marriage Mahaley (Liggett) Vinson on April 9, 1822 in Maury Co., TN. Mahaley had been previously married to John Vincent on January 14, 1821 Maury Co., TN. We will never know for sure if Hiriam is actually a child of Jesse R. or John, but we do know that he was raised by Jessse and considered Jesse to be his father. By his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was known as 'Little Grandpa'. From all I've heard, his son, William Meridith was quite a bit taller than his father, Hiram, who according to his civil war records was only 5 feet 7 inches.

MY NOTE:
Note that his age SHOULD actually be 27 and not 37.
Children, Nancy, Mary, Meredith and John Vinson are listed as students at Pleasant Hill School. Teacher is S. D. Kendall.
MY NOTE:
At this time, I'm not sure if or how, S. D. Kendall is related to Martha Anna (Kendall) Vinson - the mother of these children.

MY NOTE:
For some reason, William Meridith Vinson isn't listed - THOUGH Sarah is listed the age that he would have been.. As you can see the census taker, got some of the children out of order as they should be Nancy, John, (then my Meridith who is missing) , then Mary. Also, note that Sarah SHOULD HAVE BEEN 8 and it was Meredith (the one who was left out) that was age 11.This family was living right next door to Hiram's brother, Jesse Vinson, Jr.

Hiram died July 18, 1909 at Coolidge, Limestone Co., Texas and was buried at the Old Armour Cemetery in Coolidge.
Nancy died Decmeber 18, 1921 Tishomingo Co., MS and was buried at Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
There was talk of having a five generation picture made, but it was never done. Hiram died when I was ten months and one day old. Often Hiram would visit his daughter, Nancy Ann. He was so senile that he would wander off and get lost and Nancy Ann would have to go and hunt for him. It was said Nancy soon despised his visits. Sometimes he would wander as far away as Dawson. Some of the Dawson citizens would recognize him and take him home and that was in the 'horse and buggy days' so that was a nice round trip for some one.
MY NOTE:
After many years of correspondence and further research, it is now believed that Hiram in his later years suffered from Parkinson's Disease or possibly even Alzymers. He was almost 87 when he died.

At this time the Bible is no longer in existence. Only the family record had been saved and at this time is in possession of his granddaguther Mrs. Ethel (Vinson) Adams of Coolidge, Texas. All births and deaths were recorded by initials only. It was very faded and difficult to read.
