MISCONCEPTION and some CLARIFICATIONS: A Lewis family history has this Isiah Lewis as having been married to a Mary Smith 1828 in Virgo Co., Indiana. This is NOT the Isaiah/Isiah Lewis who went to Randolph Co., Arkansas. For one thing, the Isiah Lewis who went to Randolph Co., Arkansas had two children born before the 1828 marriage. Also the Isiah Lewis who went to Randolph Co., Arkansas is on 1830 Carroll Co., TN and 1840 Randolph Co., Ark and left a will in 1849 and died in 1850. Plus the Isiah Lewis who went to Arkansas was born about 1808 in Warren Co., KY and his wife, Mary was born about 1802 in Kentucky.
Now there is an Isiah Lewis on 1830 Virgo Co., Indiana census - a young man with a daugther under the age of 5. Also on the 1850 census census, there is an Isaiah Lewis born about 1808 Kentucky with a wife, Mary, born about 1807 North Carolina. They were both listed as paupers at this time in 1850.
So as you can see we have TWO Isiah Lewis born both just after 1800 in KY and both married girls named Mary - 1) one marrying Mary Smith in 1828 Virgo Co., Indiana and was still there on 1830 Virgo Co., Indiana census and 1850 Virgon Co., Indiana census and 2) this (ours) who married Mary Wright about 1821-1824 probably in the Simpson Co., KY area. By 1830, our Isiah Lewis is in Carroll Co., TN and his wife's parents are nearby living on Rushing Creek in Henry Co., TN - in an area that eventually became Benton Co., TN. By 1840 this family was in Randolph Co., ARk where they were followed in late 1840's by Mary's brother, Philemon W. Wright. Later on members of this family would later marry their cousins - descendants of Philemon W. Wright. By 1850 census, Isaiah Wright is dead and Mary is listed as a widow on the census. By 1854, Mary is listed in her father's probate in Benton Co., TN as living out of state and having married P. (aul) Wright - which turns out to be a brother to Isaiah Wright. By 1860, Mary is shown with Paul Wright.
