DEATH OF HENRY HART

DEATH OF HENRY HART

 (Derby Mercury 8th March 1865 page 2)

STANLEY

"On Saturday, the 25th nlt., an awful illustration of the uncertainty of life occurred at this village. A man named Henry Hart, who had been employed at the works of Messrs. H.B.Whitehouse and Sons, West Hallam, was taken suddenly ill on reaching his home at Stanley after leaving work that day. He complained of a pain in his back, and his wife being terrified at his ghastly countenance, called in Mr. Whitehouse, who happened to be passing the cottage at the time. After Mr. Whitehouse had been in the house a few minutes  the poor fellow expired. The deceased was 34 years of age, and has left a wife and five children. Some months ago a charge of affiliation was made out against the deceased, which he always declared was an unjust one, and cost him 14 shillings in defending himself. He took this circumstance so much to heart that he has never "looked up" since."
