The Parishes of Surrey

Christenings, Marriages & Burials 1750 to 1830

In the 1700s, Surrey County was bounded on the north by County Middlesex and the City of London both across the Thames River, and on the east by Kent, on the south by Sussex and on the west of Hampshire. There were over 200 civil parishes in the county of which four are listed here, where the earliest Millikens and Milligans appear from the 1700s onwards. The Millikens of Richmond Green owe their start in England to Michael Milliken, a Scots man who came from Galloway in Scotland. His family attended St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church of Richmond and their names appear in The Parish Register of Richmond (1720-1780), Vol. II., printed by The Publication of the Surrey Parish Register Society, Vol. III (1905) and edited by J. Challenor C. Smith.
