The Parish of Ballyscullion

The parish of Ballyscullion is located in the Diocese of Derry, though a portion of the parish extends into County Antrim. It is bounded on the north by the parish of Tamlaght OCrilly, to the west by Maghera, southwest by Magherafelt and to south by the parish of Artrea. The earliest registers of Ballyscullion Church of Ireland were destroyed in Dublin, and those for the Castledawson, only date from 1846 onwards. The Presbyterian Congregation of Castledawson, which was originally known as Dawsons Bridge, has baptisms and marriages from 1803. This was the Presbyterian Church from which several Millikens emigrated to America in the early 1700s.
