Parish of Kilrea


The parish of Kilrea is located within the Diocese of Derry and is bounded on north by the parishes of Coleraine and Desertoghill, on the west and south by Tamlaght O�Crilly with the river Bann bounding to the parish to east. The parish Church of Kilrea has baptisms from 1802 onwards, and marriages and burials from 1802 onwards (see below for extracts taken from the register of baptisms). There are vestry minutes extant from as early as 1736. First Presbyterian Church in Kilrea has the earliest Presbyterian baptismal and marriage registers dating from 1825 onwards. The register of baptisms and marriage was started by the Rev. Hugh Walker Rodgers, who became minister of First Kilrea Presbyterian Church on April 17, 1825. Second Kilrea Presbyterian Church only has baptism dating from 1840 and marriages from 1845 (not searched).
