John Calvart and Alexander Mathew are appointed to go to James Mullykin�s house to see what ability he is in, as to the maintaining of his family and that care be taken tht he be supplied with something if need requires. Our next particular men�s meeting is to be at Thomas Calvarts.

John Calvart and Alexander Mathews have (according to friends desire) been at James Mullykin�s and do find he hath need of some help toward ye maintenance of his family, so friends do consent (and desire) that Alexander Mathews to be care to buy eight pounds of mealie and give it to James Mullykin.

October 15, 1680
At our particular men�s meeting at ffransis Robsons.
William Mathews and George Hodgson are desired to go to see what necessity ther is to supply James Mullykin and his family with for their present releife he being now Lying Ill. Agreed of by the meeting that all friends to take Care to call to mind, who they have known that formerly were Convinced, and are revolted, and also what hath befallen them, since they fell away, and give an answer to ye next man's meeting.

At ye first Particular Men�s Meeting held in the New Meeting house at Lurgan.
Robert Hoope and Allexr Mathews are desired to oversee ye building of ye front house on ye Meeting house tenement according to ye agreement with Thomas Millican.

June 10, 1697
At a Particular Men�s Meeting held in Lurgan.
Ezekiel Bullock, Thomas Turner and George ffox have according to desire of last meeting brought ye accounts concerning ye Meeting house. Ye Sd persons John Hoope and Tho: Wainwright, are desired to settle ye Said accounts and John hoope to make a general record thereof in this book wth ye particular account of each friends giving to ye building of ye Said house, which is as follows In the year 1695 it pleased God to open ye hearts of ye Friends of this meeting to build a meeting house fit for a province meeting or other large meetings � ye usual one formerly made use of being too little and going to decay. So Friends upon several conferences ordered affairs so as tht ye said house is built upon a tenement called Maddern�s tenement on ye south end of ye town of Lurgan upon a copyhold lease from Esq. Brownlow, in ye name of Robert Hoope, being for this meeting�s use, and likewise two small dwelling houses in ye front of ye said tenement, the cost of which with the meeting house by subscription as hereafter mentioned, but what wanted to complete ye said work was paid out of the collection stock, which was but little.

There follows a list of monies collected, which included, James Milikin who gave 12s 8d.

January 29, 1699
At a Particular men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
Its desired that John Hoope of Killaghy and James Mullican of Munallan be added to Thomas Walker Thomas Wainwright and John Robson to advise friends according to former directions being now reminded from ye province meeting to this meeting to entreat friends to keep up their fences, and likewise as application is made to thm, tht they apprize and value trespasses & as by desire in 2 minutes in this book ye one upon ye 20th 3 mo 1696 and ye other upon ye 25th 3 mo 1697.

July 13, 1669
Memorandum that it is agreed between James Mullican and Margarett Simson, that she hath put her son Allan an apprentice to ye said James for 7 years and 3 years Journey man, to enter ye 29th Instant, ye said James to pay him for ye first year Journey man 20 Shillings ye 2nd 25 shillings and ye 3d year 30 shillings, and that ye said Margaret Cloath him for ye first year and to leave him with a new suit of clothes at ye expiration of ye first year, and ye said James to supply him ye rest of his apprenticeship with suitable apparel and at ye end of his apprenticeship to give him a new suit. Willm Lynas having declared his Intentions of marriage with Sarah Coats before ye meeting & nothing appears to obstruct his proceedings James Mullikin & Francis Hillary are appointed to make Inquiry concerning his clearness etc & return acct when Called for.

October 29, 1708
At a preparative men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
James Stevenson of Bellyhagan meeting & Mary Millikin of Munallan Meeting having appeared and declared their Intentions of marriage with one another before this meeting & ye said James producing a certificate from Bellyhagan meeting of his laying his sd Intentions before them who appointed Luke Beell and David Kell to make enquiry concerning his clearness & orderly proceedings, & this meeting upon enquiry finding nothing appears to obstruct their further proceedings have appointed Esther Neile & Sarah Morton to make enquiry concerning ye said Marys clearness, & also desires Sarah Robson if she can to assist them or however to be at ye next men�s meeting & province meeting, to return their answers. November 19, 1708

James Stevenson & Mary Millikin having appeared at this meeting & declared ye continuation of their Intended marriage with one another and Esther Neile & Sarah Morton having returned their answers that they made enquiry & finds nothing to obstruct them but that they may lay their said Intentions before ye next ro: meeting.

February 17, 1709
At the Munallen Meeting House.
James Stevenson of ye parish of Loughgall and County of Armagh and Mary Millikin of Munallen (sic Magheralin) & county of Down having declared their intentions of marriage with each other in several publick meetings of ye people called Quaakers whose proceedings therein, after deliberate consideration thereof, enquiry being made concerning their clearness from all others consent of parents and relations concerned were consented unto by ye said meetings.

Now these are to certifie all whome it may concern that for the full accomplishing of their said intentions according to Gods Ordinance ye said James Stevenson and Mary Millikin appeared in a publick meeting of ye said people mett together to worship God in their meeting house at Munallen (sic Magheralin, copy error?) upon ye seventeenth day of ye twelfth month called february in ye year one thousand seven hundred & eight where being contracted ye said James Stevenson taking ye said Mary Millikin by ye hand did solemnly declare in manner as followeth. In the fear of God & presents of this assembly I take Mary Millikin to be my wife hoping threw ye Lords assistancde to be a Loving and faithfull husband to her till Death separate us.

And then and there in ye said assembly ye said Mary Millikin did Declare in Like manner as followeth. In ye fear of God & before this assembly I take James Stevenson to be my husband & gives myself to him to be his wife, promising with ye Lords assistance to be a Loving & obedient wife to him till ye Lord by death separate us.

And in a further confirmation thereof ye said James Stevenson and Mary Millikin did to these presents subscribe their names as husband and wife and they whose names are underwritten being present with many more at the solemnizing of their said marriage and subscription aforesaid as wittnesses have set their hands ye day and year above written.

November 3, 1710
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
Whereas John Wilson of Munallan, haveing complained of James Milikin of his committing some trespass upon him or stopping some old high ways or passage, which as he says hath been usual gone to his land, & in order tht the truth or allegation of ye said complaint may be known, John Robson, Alexander Mathews Robert Hodgson, John Neill & John Christy are desired to meet at Munallan next fifth day come a week & enquire into ye cause of ye said complaint & if or wherein they find James Milikin to have done amiss, to advise him to comply, to make redress and satisfaction & give account of their proceedings, & how they find ye matter to ye next Meeting. (Note in margin: friends appointed and hath ... matters between ye parties, that they are agreed then.)

January 3, 1713/14
At a Preparative Men�s Meeting held in Lurgan.
Jonathan Hudson & Elizabeth Milikin having acquainted some friends of their inclinations of marriage with each other this day presented ye same & upon enquiry nothing yet appearing to hinder their further proceedings, John Turner, & Robert Hodgson, Elinor Greer & Mary Cristy are desired to make enquiry concerning their clearness, orderly proceedings, consent of parents, & relations concerned, & return their answers to ye next Men & Women�s Meeting. January 24, 1713/14
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
Jonathan Hudson, & Elizabeth Milikin having appeared and declared the continuation of their Intentions of marriage with each other, & the friends appointed to make enquiry concerning their clearness having given account that they have made enquiry and nothing appears to obstruct their laying ye same before ye province meeting to which ye said friends are desired to return their account of them. Jonathan Hetherington of Lisburn meeting & Martha Millikin of Munallan meeting ye said Jonathan producing a certificate from Lisburn meeting appeared & declared their Intentions of Marriage with each other, & after enquiry nothing appearing to obstruct their further proceedings, James Morton & Robt Richardson are appointed to make enquiry concerning ye said Jonathan & Ellinor Greer & Mary Cristy concerning ye said Martha. February 7, 1715
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
Jonathan Hetherington & Martha Millikin haveing appeared a second time & declared ye continuation of their intentions of Mariage with each other, & ye woemen friends appointed to enquire giveing account tht they find nothing to obstruct their laying their said Intentions before ye Pro: meeting.

May 12, 1715
At the Monallen Meeting House.
Whereas Jonathan Hetherington of ye town of Lisburn in ye County of Antrim & Martha Millikin of Monallen in ye County of Down having declared thr Intentions of marriage with each other in severall publick meetings of ye people called Quakers, whose proceedings therein after deliberate consideration thereof, Inquiry being made concerning thr clearness from all others, consent of parents & relations concernd were consented to by Sd meetings.

And then & there in ye Sd assembly ye Sd Martha did declare in like manner as followeth, friends you are my wittnesses I take Jonathan Hetherington to be my husband & gives myself to him to be his wife, promiseing threw ye Lords assistance to be a faithfull & loveing wife till death separate us.

And as a further confirmation throf ye Sd Jonathan Hetherington & Martha did to these pr�sents subscribe thr names as husband & wife and they whose names are underwritten being pr�sent with many more at ye solemnizing of thr Sd marriage and subscription aforeSd as witnesses hereunto, have sett thr hands ye day and year above written.

Richard Bullock & Rachell Morton both of Moyallan Meeting haveing appeared before this & our Woemens meeting, & declared their Intentions of Marriage wth each other & nothing appearing to obstruct their further proceedings, James Milikin, John Neile, Mary Cristy & Sarah Lynas are desired to make enquiry concerning their clearness consent of parents & relations concerned & return their answers to ye next mens meeting. November 4, 1715
At a preparative mens meeting held in Lurgan.
John Morton gives account that his son William is married to one of another profession contrary to ye order of truth therefore John Walker is desired to draw up a testimony against his transgressions & give it to John Neile & James Millikin who are desired to read it to him & give account to ye next mens meeting. November 25, 1715

John Walker having produced a testimony against Wm Morton which being read and approved John Christy and John Neile are desired to read it to him, & to get it published in the meeting at Monallen next first day. (Note in margin: was done.)

December 27, 1716
At a Preparative men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
John Millikin of Munallan meeting having declared his Intentions of Marriage with Susannah McRannall of Ballinderry meeting, & upon enquiry from himself nothing appearing to obstruct his further proceedings, John Morton & John Neil are desired to make enquiry concerning his clearness orderly proceedings consent of parents, & return their answers to that province meeting that they present their said Intentions to.

January 30, 1717
At a Province Meeting held at Mary Boyd�s
John Milikin of Munallan meeting and Susannah McRannall of Ballinderry meeting having appeared and declared their intention to marriage with each other before this meeting, John Morten and John Neile being appointed by the men�s meeting of Lurgan and Jane Wadell and Abigail Hill by the women�s meeting held at Mary Boyd�s to make enquiry concerning their cleanest orderly and having done their enquiry, find nothing to object their proceedings, but that they may lawfully marry, so it�s the appointment of their meeting that the said John Milikin do publick or cause to publish their said Intention in two several meetings all Moyallan and at Mary Boyds, and if nothing then appear against them they may in a convenient season take each other in Marriage, John Wadell and Leonard Sedgwick are desired to see of said marriage perfected in good or order and to get the certificate recorded in meeting book and to return a copy of it to the next province meeting.

Marginal Note: �were married at Mary Boyd�s in ye parish of Magheragall ye 17th day of ye 2nd month 1717 as by certificate may appear�.

Death of Martha Millikin, widow, buried at Moyraverty, Co. Armagh.

Note: James and Martha Millikin were buried in the Friends Burial Ground, Lynastown in the townland of Moyraverty near Lurgan, Co. Armagh.

John & Robert Millikin of Moyallen
Memorial of Deed of Mortgage dated 4 January 1719, between John Millikin and Robert Millikin, linen drapers, both of Munallen (Moyallen in the parish of Tullylish) in the County of Down, and John Christy of the same, and the said John Millikin and Robert Millikin in consideration of the sum of �50, did discharged etc. the deed of Mortgage, which did grant to the John Christy the deed of lease made between John Gill of Lurgan Gent and James Millikin of Munallen dated 1 May, 1712, to hold to the said John Christy his executors and administrators, for the term of years then to come and unexpired in the lease from the date of the said deed of Mortgage, in which deed there is a clause of Redemption of the sum of �50 paid of discharge together in the lawful interest of the same within the term of three years from the date of the said Mortgage. Witnessed by John Groves of Laighenisis in County of Down Gent, Edward Murphy of Tandragree in County Armagh Gent, and William Seed of Lisburn County Antrim Merchant. The deed of Mortgage discharged, signed and sealed by John Christy 4 January 1719. Memorial witnessed by Thomas Benson and William Seed and registered 24 November, 1719.

Account given that Robt Milikin of Monallan is married by a priest to a woman of another persuasion, Jno Turner Junr & Jno Hay are desired to draw a suitable testimony against his transgression to be perused & approved by ye next meeting. (Note in margin: See next meeting.)

The testimony against the transgressions of Susannah Stewart alias Milikin have been read in the meeting and approved John Cristy is desired to read the same to her and return her answer and the paper to next meeting.

September 17, 1731

John Christy gives account that he read the Testimony to Susannah Stewart alias Milikin to which she made no objection and said but little So John Christy is desired to publish in a first day meeting at Moyallen.

To enquire if the testimony be published against the transgressions of Susannah Stewart alias Millikin at Moyallen meeting (note at side �was done on 12 October, 1731).

August 14, 1740

Account being brought to this meeting that Abigail Muligan who made profession with us is married contrary to the rules of our Society. So John and James Cristy are desired to make enquiry into the truth thereof and return to the next meeting.

September 25, 1740
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan.
John and James Christy given account that upon enquiry it appears Abigale Milikan is married out of the rules of our Society therefore the said John and James Christy are desired to draw suitable testimony against her said transgression and bring it to next meeting for approbation.

October 24, 1740

The friends appointed to draw up a suitable testimony against the transgression of Abigale Gill, otherwise Milliken, have sent one of this meeting which being appointed, the said friends are desired to read the same to her and return her answer to the next meeting.

November 6, 1740
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan
John and James Christy being appointed to read the testimony against the transgressions of Abigal Gill otherwise Miliken, to her gives answer that it is not yet done. The said friends are desired to take suitable opportunity and read the same to her and return to next preparative meeting.

December 17, 1740
At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan
Account given that the testimony against the transgressions of Abigal Gill otherwise Milikan was read to her and that she owned to the truth thereof but offered nothing against the said transgression, so to the appointment of this meeting that James Christy read the same in the publick meeting for worship at the Moyallen next first Day.

Note: married by a priest to a Mr. Gill.

At a men�s meeting held in Lurgan Moyallan friends give an account that they hear Francis Dalton is married contrary to our Rules, and Mary Mulligan the same. James and Thomas Christy are desired to make Enquiry into the truth thereof and return their answer to next meeting.

James and Thomas Christy having signified by that Francis Dalton is married contrary to our Rules also Mary Mulligan the same the said friends are desired to draw two suitable papers against their said transgressions and bring them to next meeting foe approbation.

The friends appointed to draw up testimonies against the transgressions of Francis Dalton and Mary Muligan have produced one to their meeting which with some alteration was approved by said and 2 said are desired to read the same to them and return their answers to next men�s meeting (note at margin �meeting take an opportunity to read of said Mary Mulligan�, done, entry concerning it at a men meeting held on 31 of 5th month 1744.

December 14, 1743

James Christy gives account that he read the testimony against Francis Dalton to him and that he owns to the truth thereof, James Christy to read the same in the publick meeting for worship next first day at Moyallan (note in margin �was done�).

May 31, 1744

James Christy gives account that he read the testimony against Mary Montgomery now Milikan, as desired at a men�s meeting 3rd of 11th month 1743 and that she owned to the truth of it. Therefore, the said James is desired to read it in the Publick meeting at Moyallan next first day (side note "done").
