The Church of Scotland parish of Auchinleck is bounded by Mauchline and Sorn to the north, Murkirk to the east, Old Cumnock to the south, and Ochiltree to the east. The earliest Baptismal register dates from 1693, Marriage register from 1698 and Deaths from 1753 to 1816.

Comment: - Alexander Milligan in Duncanziemuir is to be identified with Alexander Milliken in Braehead of Auchmillan near Mauchline.

Marriage of Janet Milligain and Adam Reid.

Baptism of John Reid son lawful to Adam Reid in Newton and Jonet Milliken his spouse, was born on Friday July 22, 1722. Baptised by Rev. John Hunter and witnessed by John Reid present Baillie in Newton and grandfather to said child and Adam Reid in Ayr grand uncle.

Comment: - Janet Milliken, wife of Adam Reid in Newton, Ayr, was the daughter of Alexander Milliken and his spouse Janet Henrie, and was baptised on 8th March 1702 at the parish church of Sorn. Adam and Janet lived in Ayr, where their son John was born in 1722. The record of Adam�s baptism is preserved in the Ayr parish records and notes:

�Adam Reid son lawful to John Reid one of the present Baillies of the Newton of Ayr and Margaret Glover his spouse, was born on 1st November, 1699, and baptised on the Sabbath 12th November, 1699, by Mr. John Hunter. Witnessed by Adam Reid, landlabourer in the Newton uncle to the child and Wm. Johnston, late Baillie there�.

Adam�s uncle, Adam Reid, was admitted burgess and guild brother of Ayr at the desire of John Alexander of Blackhouse on 14th October, 1708.

Death of Alexander Milligan of Duncanzeimure, died of fever aged sixty years.

September 26, 1790
Proclamation of John Milliken in the parish of Auchinleck and Margaret Maitland newly come into this parish (Old Cumnock) were by mutual requisition proclaimed on the 26th day of September but the certificate in favour of said Margaret Maitland appearing suspicious in the consequence of inaccuracies their proclamation is discontinued till the evidence is authenticated.

Baptism of John Milligan son of John Milligan and Mary McLeod by Rev. James Chrystal, and was born at Gaswater (Gass Water) on 28th August 1850.
