Before Thomas can take possession of the land, John states that he will have to resign these lands in the hand of his superior for new infeftment to be made in favour of Thomas. He adds a precept of sasine at the end of the disposition so that when all the resignation is over, Thomas had a precept of sasine on these lands to take to the baillie, for a new infeftment and constitutes as procurator or baillie for the grantor James Blair, notary in Ayr. It is written by James Blair at Fernane [in the parish of Urney] in the barony of Loughtee in Co. Cavan, on May 4, 1673 and witnessed by John McNeal, seneschal in Fernane and Mungo Fulhy. Comment:
Fernane is modern Farnham the seat of the Maxwells, Lords of Farnham, in the parish of Urney, near the town of Cavan. This family descend from Robert Maxwell (b. c.1598 - d.1672), eldest son of Robert Maxwell, Dean of Armagh, and Susan Armstrong. Robert was ordained minister in 1618; Prebendary of Tynan, Co. Armagh, (1625 c. 1661); elected Bishop of Kilmore in 1643 and of Ardagh in 1661. In 1664, Robert purchased the manors of Dromhill and Dromellan in the barony of Upper Loughtee, from Thomas Waldron, thus initiating the Maxwell familys position as Co. Cavan's major landowners for the next 330 years.

Children:
1. John Maxwell of Farnham, d. c.1713.
2. James of Fellows Hall. He married Jane Maxwell, his cousin, and daughter of Henry Maxwell and Jane Echlin of Finnebrogue.
3. Henry Maxwell of College Hall, who also became Prebendary of Tynan, and rector of Derrynoose, Co. Armagh.
4. William Maxwell of Falkland, Co. Monaghan, who married Anne Walker, daughter of Rev. George Walker, Chancellor of Armagh.

Robert Millikin of Ballyholm near Groomsport, Co. Down, held his leasehold from Henry Maxwell of Finnebrogue, son of Robert Maxwell son of Henry Maxwell, first of Finnebrogue and brother of Robert Maxwell of Farnham. The estate of Finnebrogue, bordered by the Quoile River and Strangford Lough, had been let in perpetuity to Henry Maxwell by Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Ardglass, in 1628. However, the Maxwell family, do not seem to have taken up residence Finnebrogue until the late seventeenth century, when either they built a house or the family moved into one, between 1686 and 1699, as the younger Henry succeeded to the estate in the former year. He married first, Jane Maxwell, daughter of Rev. Henry Maxwell of Derrynoose, and second, Dorothea Bryce, daughter of Edward Bryce of Kilroot. Henry died in 1730.
