At Dumfries thirty first day of December Seventeen and forty seven betwixt the hours of five and six afternoon. The Sasine under infeft wrote on parchment, duly stamped was presented by Archibald Malcolm writer in Dumfries to be recorded in this Register conform to act of Parliament, of which Sasine the tenor follows:

In the name of God to be it To all and Sundry who it may concern by this present public Instrument be it known that upon the thirty first day of December in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and forty seven by the right of our sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God King of Great Britain France and Ireland defender of the faith the twenty first year. In presence of me notary public subscribing and the witness here after mentioned, Robert Thomson in Millerland in the parish of Troqueer as Baillie in that part of and for Robert Milligan portioner of Dempstertoun specially constituted to the effect underwritten by the precept of Sasine after infeft contained in the Disposition after deduced which continues in full force as well after as before the Death of the grantor or person to whom granted by the thirty fifth act of the fourth session of the first parliament of King William and Queen Mary. Where compeared also personally Robert Milligan only son and nearest and lawful heir served and retoured to the deceased John Milligan in Cargane son of the above Robert Milligan portioner of Dempsterton. Having and holding in his hands the following writ, viz: Imprs, a print Disposition of the date of the precept of Sasine after insert made and granted by the said Robert Milligan portioner of Dempsterton (father to the said John Milligan an now deceased), whereby the clauses upon specified, the said Robert Milligan sold, alienated and forever disponed from him his heirs successors and his assignees to and in favour of John Milligan his son and his heirs, successors and assignees whomever heritably and irredeemably All and Haill to the said Robert his ten shilling land of Meikle Dempstertoun with houses biggings yard orchards mosses moors meadows common pastures and haill parts pendicles and pertinents of the same lying within the parish of Dunscore and sheriffdom of Dumfries together with all right little interest claim of right property and possession and possessory which the said Robert Milligan his successors and their successors or heirs and successors had have or anyways might have claim or pretence unto in time coming forever. In which lands in the pertinents above disponed the Robert Milligan bound and obliged him his heirs and successors to duly and validly infeft and seize the said John Milligan and his foresaid and that by two sealed infeftments and manner of holdings specified and contained in the said Disposition, as the same of the date underwritten containing proxy of resignation the precept of Sasine after insert and sundry the clauses more fully bears. As also the said Robert Milligan son of the said deceased John Milligan, Having and holding in his hands the extract of a general service of heirs in his favour as heir to his said father before the Baillie of Dumfries on the nineteenth day of December instant as the same duly retoured to at the Chancellery Offices. The which Disposition and general retoured service the foresaid Robert Milligan named presented the said Robert Thomson as Baillie in that part for said desiring and enquiring him in virtue of the said writs and of the act of the Parliament foresaid to give sasine and infeftment of the said ten shilling land of Meikle Dempstertoun and pertinents thereof above written to him the said Robert Milligan. Which desire the said Robert Thomson as Baillie in that part foresaid finding responsible he released the said writs into his hand and delivered the same to me notary public to be publically read over and proclaimed in the presence of the witnesses here after named which I did accordingly and precept of sasine contained in the said Disposition as follows. And to the officer the said John Milligan may be infeft and served in the said lands and pertinence above despond by their presence made and contained ���.. my baillies in that part �Conlly and Seally� to pass to the ground of the lands above disponed any day in time lawfully and conveniently and there give and deliver hereto state an sasine with real actual and corporate possession and All and hailll the said Lands of Dempstertoun lying within the parish of Dunscore and sheriffdom of Dumfries with the pertinents there above written to the said John Milligan heritably and irretrievably or to his attorney in his name bearer hereof. By deliverance of earth and stone of the grounds of the said Lands in their hands as use is and this on no ways you leave undone. The which to do I commit to you my full power by this my precept of Sasine direct granted in witness thereof these presents consisting of this and of the proceeding there being two stamped papers written by George Bell writer in Dumfries are subscribed by me at Dumfries the twenty fourth day of February Seventeen and twenty five before these witnesses Thomas Dickson present Dean in Dumfries and the said George Bell writer thereof Sic, subscribitar �Robert miligne Geo Bell witnesses Thomas Dickson witness�. After over reading and explaining of which Disposition and precept of Sasine there in contained above inserted and general retoured service foresaid notary public subscribing to and in presence and before me acting of the said Robert Thomson baillie of the foresaid and the witnesses after named the said Robert Thomson as bailie in that part foresaid for virtue of his office of Bailliary committed to him by the said precept of Sasine and also by virtue of the said general retoured service and of the act of parliament foresaid Gave Delivered heritable state and Sasine with real actual and corporate possession of all and hail the said Lands of Dempstertoun lying within the parish of Dunscore and sheriffdom of Dumfries with the pertinents there above written, to the said Robert Milligan younger heir foresaid, Heritable and irretrievably as said is and that by delivery of earth and stone off the ground of the said Lands in his hands as uses is after the form and tenor of the foresaid Disposition and precept in Sasine there in contained and general retoured service foresaid and act of parliament above recited In all points upon which all and on sundry the for: witnesses the said Robert Milligan took instrument in the hands of me notary public subscribing. These things were acted and done at and upon the ground of the ten shilling Land of Meikle Dempstertoun. At Betwixt the hours of twelve at noon and at one afternoon of the day of the month in the year of God and Kings Reign sovereignty first above written in presence of Robert Milligane son to the said Robert Milligane of this present second marriage with Agnes Robson his present wife and Jacob Bell in Cargenston in Troqueer foresaid and Joseph Pagan servant to the said Jacob Bell.
