Holywood Parish Church Records


The parish of Holywood is bounded on the east by Dumfries; on the south by the parishes Terregles, Kirkpatrick-Irongray and Kirkpatrick-Durham; on the west by Glencairn; on the north by Dunscore; and on the northeast by Kirkmahoe. There are baptismal and marriage records from 1688 onwards with gaps. One extract is included from the minutes of the Presbytery of Dumfries 1687-1701.

Presbytery of Dumfries Minute of Janet Milligane in the parish of Holywood remitted by the presbytery, accused of fornication with John Ronnel, soldier, having been formerly punished for two scandals of the same nature. She is to appear on the pillory in sackcloth.
