Lochmaben Parish Church Records

The parish of Lochmaben is bounded on the north by the parishes of Kirkmichael, Johnstone and Applegarth, on the east by Dryfesdale, on the south by Dalton, and the west by Tinwald and Torthrowald. There are baptismal records dating from 1741, marriages from 1765 and burial records between 1766 and 1819. The burial records have not been examined.

November 1, 1795
Irregular marriage of Jean Milligan in the parish of Dalton and Thomas Wright in this parish were rebuked before this Congregation for an irregular marriage on November 1, 1795, and paid the usual fine to the poor.

December 5, 1800
Marriage of Margaret Milligan in the parish of Dalton to William Roddick in this parish, who had banns of marriage three times regular published before the Congregation and no objection found against them they were married on December 5, 1800.

March 1, 1804
Marriage of John Milligan in the parish of Dalton to Margaret Kennedy in this parish who had banns of marriage three times regularly published in the Church of Lochmeban before the Congregation and no objections offered against them they were duly married accordingly.

January 5, 1805
Baptism of William Milligan son of John Milligan and Margaret Kennedy in Greenhill, born on December 27, 1804.

January 3, 1806
Marriage of Jean Milligan to James Marshall both in this parish who had banns of marriage three times regularly published before the Congregation and no objections offered against them they were married accordingly.

February 23, 1806
Baptism of Elizabeth Milligan daughter of Joseph Milligan and Jean Kerr in the Barras of Lochmaben.

March 9, 1806
Baptism of Jean Milligan daughter of John Milligan and Margaret Kennedy in Greenhill, born on March 4, 1806.

December 7, 1838
Marriage of Margaret Milligan to John Gray both in this parish who had banns of marriage three times regularly proclaimed before the Congregation and no objections being brought against them they were married accordingly.

July 18, 1848
Baptism of Robert Milligan son of Robert Milligan in Muirfield and his spouse Janet Burgess, born July 4, 1848.
