Elizabeth has passed away sometime within the last decade. No exact date has yet been ascertained. The children of George and Elizabeth Shipley Mauk, and even some of the grandchildren, are married and have families of their own. Not all of them have been located for this census record year.
Many remain in and around Barren County Kentucky in 1880. Sons Benjamin and Jesse have removed to Kansas, Jesse near his father�s home in Mitchell County, Benjamin and his family to Sheridan County in western Kansas. Family oral history informs us Benjamin has changed the spelling of his surname to �Mock� after feuds with his father over the Civil War issues. It has been noted that son Zachariah has also changed the spelling of his name.
George, In Mitchell County Kansas, sired four more children with 2nd �spouse� Eliza, before he passed away just two years before this record, leaving Eliza with their three children that lived to adulthood to rear. She has remarried to a Horace Wetmore as recorded in this census.
