Our Mauk Family
in the Federal Census
During this current course of family research we have recorded the George Mauk family first on the 1840 Hawkins County Tennessee Census. We next observe the family in Barren County Kentucky. While some descendants then remained, marrying, raising their children, and dying, appearing decade after decade in the same location, others dispersed to other locations, near and far. We are still searching for some.
Sometimes finding our family on a census is a first clue, or a confirmation of a suspicion. Many times this is where we first learn the names of children or spouses, or discover someone had died or remarried during a decade. Many others are lost, born and died between census years, never recorded in this inaccurate, but oh, so helpful, once a decade record of the citizens of this nation.
This is not yet a complete record. More census information will be added as opportunity allows. If you know of a location where descendants of George Mauk may be located on the federal census, please
email me and let me know. Some images are available for viewing below. More will be added as opportunity and time allows.
