McCoy Family Census 1860

1860

By the opening of this decade, 1860, our McCoy family is thriving in and around Campbell County Tennessee. A new son, Nicholas, has been born, and Nancy's mother Milley Hatfield has passed away. Elder son Andrew has married Mary Gibson and moved adjascent to his sister Milley and her family in nearby Scott County. William has Married Martha Hurtt, from a family of longtime McCoy family acqaintance, and George has wed a neighbor daughter Martha Ann Keith, and they have begun their own family. William and George and thier new families live on the McCoy family's substantial properties. Our McCoy family has been characterized, during this period, as "full handed", meaning wanting for nothing at all. Thier home large enough, and hearts generous enough, the family often heald church services in their home. At this juncture in time, our McCoy family looked forward to long and happy lives, full of God and one another in this wonderful homeland they had built with their sweat and labours.
