Searching for our sometimes elusive ancestors we must rely on what records we can. Death records, in the form of death certificates, headstone transcriptions, and obituaries, are sometimes the best clues, informing us of, or confirming, relationships, birth and death dates, and other elements of the lives of our relations. Only as reliable as the informants providing the information, they are, however, sometimes one of the few traces we have of their footsteps upon the earth.
