Barren County Kentucky Deeds

After the close of the Civil War, while much of the family of John and Nancy Hatfield McCoy remained in Van Buren County in Middle Tennesse, McCoy siblings William (wife Martha Hurtt), Milley (husband Redin Smith), and Nancy (husband Samuel Clark Swindle)and their families located in Barren County Kentucky. Nancy and her husband, Samuel Clark Swindle returned to Tennessee by 1880. In the early part of the 1880's brother Joseph (wife Salina Adkins) and his family located from Van Buren County Tennessee to Barren County Kentucky, followed in the 1890's by youngest brother Nicholas Patterson "Nick" (wife Ida McCormick). Below are records of the McCoy family land transactions as they have been discovered in Barren County Kentucky records.
