Below is a transcription of Deed Book 35, page 563, Barren County, Kentucky
Joseph McCoy purchases land on Fallen Timbers Creek
from W. E. Taylor
for the sum of $1,050

This Indenture made and entered into between W. E. Taylor and his wife Margaret R. A. Taylor of Barren County, Kentucky, of the past part and Joseph McCoy at the County & State aforementioned of the second part. Witneseth: that for and in consideration of the sum of One Thousand & fifty Dollars. Five Hundred Dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and Two Hundred Dollars to be paid on the 1st day of January 1884 and one note for Three hundred & fifty Dollars payable on the 1st day of January 1885 bearing interest from date at 6 percent, the parties of the first part have this day bargained, sold, conveyed and does by these presents do bargain, said deed and convey unto the said Joseph McCoy a certain tract or parcel of land situated on the waters of Fallen Timber Creek in Barren County, Ky and bounded as follows: Beginning at a small black queue comes to lot No. 1 in the division of the tracts of the late Peter Depp, died, thence S.86W.110 paces to a sassafrass on a road, thence N.5E. 191 paces to a hickory and dogwood, thence S89E. 110 paces to two dogwoods & two red oaks Thos. Depp's corner, thence S.5W. 186 paces to the beginning, containing 128 acres even or less being the said land conveyed to the first parties by John B. Depp deed bearing date of 19th day of Oct. 1876 and recorded in the Barren County Clerk's office in Book No. 13 page 488. To have and to hold the above described tract of land unto said Joseph McCoy his heirs and assigned forever free from claims of the said W. E. Taylor and Margaret R. A. Taylor and all persons whatever. A lien is hereby retained on the land herein described for the balance of purchase money, to said Margaret R. A. Taylor wife of W. E. Taylor united with her said husband in this conveyance and relinquishes all her right to dower and to housestead in the land herein conveyed. I, N. D. Terry, clerk of the Barren County Court, certify that the forgoing deed to Joseph McCoy was on the 28th day of November 1883 acknowledged by W. E. Taylor and his wife, M. R. A. Taylor to be their act and deed before C. C. Terry, enter clerk of said recd as appears from his endorsement the as follows: "Nov. 28-1883 acknowledged by W. E. Taylor and M. R. A. Taylor, his wife, separate and apart to be their act and deed C. C. Terry. B. C. C." And was on this day filed in my office for record, and the same recd this certificate have been recorded therein. Witness my hand this 9th day of May 1895.

May 9, 1895 Joseph McCoy paid to me the balance on the last note for purchase price of written on opp site described land W. E. Taylor having theretofore assigned said note to Stephan Glass. W. W. Smith admin with the will annexed of Stephen Glass, decd.
