 ALABAMA INFORMATION

1. First permanent white settlers to establish homes in Alabama came here in 1702. Some say 1699.

2. Mobile established in 1702.

3. Rev. War--British sympathizers living in Georgia moved to Alabama in 1775.

4. Scotch-Irish from Tennessee settled in Northern Alabama in 1809.

5. Early 1800's, former Carolinians and Virginians settled in Central Alabama.

6. Real influx of settlers after War of 1812 into Alabama.

7. Statehood in 1819. Before in 4 Territories.

8. In 1798, territory now comprising Alabama was made part of the Mississippi Territory.

9. On March 3, 1817, St. Stephens became Capital of Alabama. In Nov. 1818, Cahaba was made Capital.

10. Birth Records complete since 1908, prior to 1908 , records are incomplete.
