Allsup, Robert J.   C  6 Texas Infantry. (3 Texas Infantry.)  PVT  PVT  CONFEDERATE

Alsup, Robert John, age 22, enlisted as a private. He, along with Ludy and William, were captured when the command was surrendered at the Battle of Arkansas Post on 11 Jan 1863.

He became ill on the brutal trip north on the deck of the transport ship, without adequate clothing. He was admitted as a POW to the City USA General Hospital in St. Louis, MO

on 26 Jan 1863 and was subsequently released to return to prison 3 days later. Apparently he then contracted a severe case of diarrhea, but was released in a prisoner exchange

along with his brothers and the remainder of the command on 9 April 1863 and immediately admitted to Episcopal Church Hospital, Williamsburg, VA, because of his disability.

He was transferred to General Hospital, Petersburg, VA on 15 May 1863 and there died May 28th.

Alsup, Ludy C.  6th Regiment, 3rd Texas Infantry Corporal  PVT  CONFEDERATE

Alsup, "Ludy" C., age 20, enlisted in Company C as a 4th Corporal. He resigned as Corporal and returned to the ranks on 10 Nov 1862. He was present on all rolls until April 1864

where the record ends. He is listed mostly as "Ludy" or L.C. Alsup. He is not found in any courthouse records after the war, but is buried near his father in McVea Cemetery

Alsup, William R.  6th Regiment, Texas Infantry (3 Texas Infantry.)   CONFEDERATE

Alsup, William R. age 18, joined Company C with his brothers as a private. He like his brother, Robert John, became ill on the trip north and was admitted to City U.S.A. General Hospital

as a POW, in St. Louis on 26 Jan 1863, released and sent to Gratiot Street Military Prison, 27 Mar 1863. He also contracted diarrhea and was admitted along with his brother, to Episcopal Church Hospital,

Williamsburg, VA after being exchanged on 9 April 1863. He must have had only a slight case because he quickly recovered and returned to duty 11 April 1863.

He stayed with his command through 1 September 1864 when he was wounded in the Battle of Jonesboro.
