Privacy Policy

Many people, particularly genealogists, seem confused about the Australian privacy laws and what can or cannot be published on the internet. Most concerns relate to living people.

The Australian Attorney-General has published a brief fact sheet on Privacy and how it relates to genealogy and specifically states 'Some family history researchers have expressed concern about the potential ramifications of the Private Sector Act for their activities. Such concerns are unfounded'.

In fact, specific exemptions are given to individuals researching their family. The document indicates that the collection, compilation, storage and publishing of genealogy data for non-commercial, family history purposes is not prevented by current Privacy Laws.

However, in accordance with generally accepted international standards, in most cases I have limited the information to those born before 1931 (seventy-five years).

Should any individual have any concerns or object to any of their personal information appearing on either this site, or my Rootsweb Database, please do not hesitate to contact me, as I am only too willing to remove the details at either your, or your family members' request.
