                    The Sturgeon Family

                                     Descendants of Samuel Sturgeon

( I will add the parents of spouses and dates of childrens births as soon as possible, but first I am going to enter in my other family information.

Generation 1

Samuel Sturgeon was born about 1680, in Ulster, Ireland and migrated to America in 1730. Samuel died in 1740 in Pennsylvania.

     John Sturgeon was born about 1722, in Ulster, Ireland. He married Eleanor (Elenor/Eleanor) Terry in 1745 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. John and Eleanor had eleven children together; Isham, Hobart, Robert, Jeremiah, *James, John, Mary S., Martha, Sarah, Nellie and Barbara.  John died about 1830 in Hart County, Northtown, Kentucky.

Generation 3

     James Sturgeon was born about 1758, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania . He marrie Mary Sherman, August 21, 1778, in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Mary was born about 1763 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. James and Mary had eleven children together; Laura, Ransom, Jeremiah, James Sorrel, Sarah Elizabeth, *(Rev.) John, Squire, Rollo Samuel, Obediah, Traux Alexander and Mary. James died about 1860,in Hart County, Kentucky.

Generation 4

     Rev. John Sturgeon Sr. was born 1797, in Shelby County, Kentucky. He married Hannah Flatt, in 1835, in Warren County, Kentucky. Hannah was born in 1803, in Baron County, Kentucky. John and Hannah had five children together; Hanna ( Hannah) Honor, Thompson H., Cynthia Jane, Mary and *Richard "Warren" Elderwood  John died in March of 1860, in Warren County, Kentucky. Hannah died sometime after 1860.

Generation 5

     Richard "Warren" Elderwood Sturgeon (sometimes spelled his name Warner and sometimes Warner) was born August 15, 1848, in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Mary "Ellen" Brackeen August 31, 1873, in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. Warren and Ellen had eleven children; Ben Franklin, Ella Barnes, James Woodson, John Andrew, Warren Sturgeon, Jr., Newt Jasper, *William "Henry", Lilly Bell, Alice Tennessee, Emma Mae, and Rosie Lee. I recently discovered a second marriage of Warren Elderwood and Mary Ellen  Brackeen Sturgeon. They have a second marriage license from 1892, from Paris, Lamar County, Texas. (I am trying to find out more about the second marriage certificate at this time). Warren died January 17, 1916, in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma. Ellen died February 16, 1930, in Vernon, Willbarger County, Texas.

Generation 6

     William "Henry" Sturgeon  was born February 22, 1879, in Paris, Lamar County,  Texas. He married Lucy Alice Taylor, November 23, 1879, in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. Henry and Lucy had eleven children; Ruby, Leona, Lewis,* Marion Calvin ("Cal"), Mammie Elean, Charlotte Melinda ("Lottie"), Worner (Warren/Warner/Worner), Elerwood,Juanita Irene ("Nita"), Val Lee, Edna Jewell, William Henry ("Hick") and William David ("Dave"). Lucy died March 5, 1925 and is buried in Dallas, Texas. Henry died May 29, 1971, in Globe, Arizona., but is buried in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas

Generation 7

     Marion Calvin Sturgeon (went by Cal and M.C.) was born November 20, 1903 in Paris, Lamar County. He married Effie Green, November 20, 1923, in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. Cal and Effie had twelve children; Hollis Odell, Ethel Fay, Mabel Lee, James Edward, Wanda Lou,* Harley Gene, Clovis Melvin, Marion Wallace, Evelina, Joyce Elaine,Barbara Sue and Peggy Ann. Effie died November 14, 1980, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. Cal died March 1, 1994, in hospital in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. Buried in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas.

Generation 8

     Harley Gene Sturgeon was born January 16, 1932, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. He married Zella Fay Lemons, May 26, 1952, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. They had four children; Cynthia "DiAnne", Joey Dean, Harley "Eugene" and Rickey Steven. Harley died on the same day that the Challenger space shuttle mission failed, January 28, 1986, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas

Generation 9

     Joey Dean Sturgeon was born June 5, 1955 in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. He married Beverly Rae Tigert, June 28, 1974, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. Joey and Beverly have two children; Angela Jo and Adam Ray.

Generation 10

     Angela Jo Sturgeon (myself) was born November 20, 1974, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. In late 1993, my best friend, Lauriann Latham, introduced me to her cousin, Donald Wade Walling.  Friday, September 2, 1994, Donald and I were married in Humphreys, Jackson County, Oklahoma, at the home of my grandparents, Arthur and Ruth Tigert. Grandpa married us and Grandma and my uncle, Sonny Dean were our witnesses. Donald and I have three children together; Calleigh, Joel and Kaden. We also have two children from Donald's previous marriage; Whitney and Wade.

Generation 11

    1. Calleigh Raeann Walling was born September 19, 1995, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas.

    2. Joel Whitten Walling was born August 11, 1999, in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas.

    3. Kaden Jase Walling was born December 12, 2003, in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas.  (although he lives in Seymour.)

    4. Whitney Gail Walling  was born October 19, 1986, in Haskell, Texas (although she lived in Seymour).  Whitney married Travis John Macken, August 16, 2006. Their daughter,

    5. Jacob "Wade" Walling was born October 18, 1990.
