Ernest married Mary Ann McGinn at Rotherham Register Office by certificate on 2 February 1918. He was a bachelor, a steel worker and aged 36. His father was a coal miner. Mary was a munition worker, aged 31. Her father was Bartholomew McGinn (deceased), formerly a shunter on the railway. Both Ernest and Mary were of 9 Kemps Yard, Swinton.
