A.L. and the ZIMMERMAN FAMILY

The following picture, known to be taken in the Zimmerman home, was at first believed to be that of A.L.'s parents and grandmother: 1) - his father, Martin; 2) - mother, Harriett; and 3) grand-mother Elizabeth, widow of Eli.

If in fact A.L.'s grandmother is pictured, this photograph would be dated 1891 or before as Elizabeth died that year. In 1891 A.L. would be only 10 years old, having been born in October of 1879. It is more likely that this is a later picture and the female is a sister or sister-in-law of Martin or Hattie, or even that of a friend or neighbor.

Martin and Hattie had one other child, Pearl J. Zimmerman. The following picture was also taken in the Zimmerman home and is believed to be Pearl. If you look closely a cat is perched on her shoulders giving her the appearance of great fatigue, or, on a lighter note: "Oh, no - not another picture!"

If this is Pearl the picture would predate her death which occurred in 1904.

This picture is believed to be that of Arthur L. Zimmerman, better known as A.L., on the front porch of the Zimmerman home.
