Our trip began with the long drive from Temple, Texas to Russellville, Alabama.

On Monday morning, we met with cousins, Digger, Tombstone Hunter, and Tinker, who all were staying at the same hotel. Peter Gunn of Leighton joined us for our first adventure – the William Thomas and Sarah “Sallie” (Potts) Mull*ns burying ground. PB and his sister GM (secretary of the Mount Pleasant Church, Newburg) were our guides.  PB and Peter Gunn loaded us all up in their pickup trucks, and we rode into the EH property north of Newburg.

The stones had been cleaned last July when PB escorted WM and TM, Cedar Park, Texas, to the graves, so we could see them right away. They are in a clearing within a grove of trees.

PB told us that the property passed from the Mull*ns to a Murphree (spelling?), then to the Hovaters. I would like to have more details of these transactions. While there, I found that GM and PB had recollections of “Aunt” Lela Reynolds – more about this later. We ‘witched’ the cemetery and found many graves there.
