Years of genealogical research by many people going back to the latter 1800's have contributed to the construction of an extensive Aten/Auten Family Tree. Mamie McKinney compiled much of it, starting with Adrian Hendrickse Aten, "the Immigrant", after computers and genealogy programs became more common. Of course a lot of brick walls have been hit. Some of these "Lost Lines" have been traced for several generations but their connection to the Tree has eluded us. With so much actual documentation now being put online, new data keeps appearing. The interest in family history has also grown, as has the capacity to copy and share amongst family members, so family information is more widely available. Our hope is that some of these "Lost Line" stories will be familiar to someone who will be able to identify them or connect them to siblings. If you have anything that would help identify their ancestral lines, will you please write to us? If solving a mystery appeals to you, go for it! We would welcome any ideas.
