Earliest Known Ayer Signatures

The first known signatures of the Ayer family are these in a 1654 document signed in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Fourth from the top is Joh. Eyeres, tenth is Robbert Eres, second from the bottom is Peter Ayre. Despite the spelling differences these are brothers. These and many other Haverhill men had signed a petition of protest after Robert Pike was fined in a religious matter. The Pike and Ayres families were close friends, and were believed to be dating from time to time in England.
